There are about 400 rice terraces in Sodeshi. Rice terraces with four tiers were made here from the coastal plateau that went through diastrophism 100,000-120,000 years ago. The beautiful scenery with a combination of rice terraces, the sea and the villages has been created by the long history during which the terraces were formed, as well as by human activities there. It was chosen as one of the 100 best rice terraces in Japan.
